The CRA half isn't a translation layer here — it's the architecture.
Most church software is born in the US, with Canada handled by a template and a disclaimer. SundayHQ generates CRA official donation receipts as a system of record — split-receipting, gap-tracked serials, void-and-reissue lineage — with people, kids check-in, services, and groups in the same flat-priced app. Built in Canada, for both sides of the border.

Countries receipted: Canada & the US
Every receipt carries the mandatory field set: the official-receipt wording, your charity's legal name, address, and BN, a unique serial number, gift and issue dates, the donor's name and address, the eligible amount, and the CRA's name and website. Serials are strictly sequential and gap-tracked per legal entity per tax year — not computed from a date range, and never reused. Each issued receipt is an immutable snapshot, reproducible years later.
Legal name, BN, and donor address snapshotted at the moment of issue.
When a donor gets something back — a gala dinner, an auction item — the CRA's split-receipting rules apply: the eligible amount is the gift minus the fair market value of the advantage, and the advantage prints on the receipt. SundayHQ treats the advantage as a first-class field, computes the eligible amount, and flags gifts where the advantage exceeds CRA thresholds as non-receiptable instead of receipting them incorrectly.
The receipt shows the math the CRA expects to see.
Canadian multi-site churches often aren't one legal entity — each campus can be its own registered charity with its own BN. SundayHQ keys receipting to the legal entity: each campus issues under its own registration number with its own independent, gap-tracked serial sequence, while the org still gets rolled-up reporting across all of them. If a campus is planted as a new charity, its receipt history starts clean without breaking anyone else's.
Giving runs through your church's own account with Helcim, a Canadian payment processor — donations settle straight to you at interchange-plus rates. We never touch the money.
Volunteers get checks from their local police service; SundayHQ tracks results, drives recheck cycles, and gates kids rooms that require screening.
A US campus or US donors? 501(c)(3) statements, $250 acknowledgments, and quid-pro-quo disclosure live in the same app, on the same donor records.
Annual receipts and statements generated per donor, per legal entity, with every historical receipt reproducible on demand.
Your people, giving, and receipt data exports in full at any time — your charity's records belong to your charity.
Unlimited email and free member-app push notifications in every tier — no per-message fees, no texting compliance headaches.
The mandatory field set: the phrase "Official donation receipt for income tax purposes," your charity's legal name, address, and BN, a unique serial number, the gift date, the issue date and place, the donor's name and address, the eligible amount (and advantage, where one exists), and the CRA's name and website. SundayHQ generates all of it on every receipt — there's no template to fill in and nothing to forget.
A template shifts the compliance burden to you: fill in the BN, get the wording right, hope the serial numbers work out. SundayHQ is a system of record — receipts are generated with every mandatory field, serials come from a strictly sequential gap-tracked allocator per legal entity per tax year, and voids and reissues keep an audit trail. If a receipt is challenged years later, you can reproduce it exactly.
Yes — it's a first-class feature, not a workaround. Record the advantage's fair market value on the gift, and the receipt shows the gift, the advantage, and the computed eligible amount. Gifts whose advantage exceeds CRA thresholds are flagged non-receiptable rather than receipted wrong.
That's exactly what the multi-campus tier was architected for. Each campus carries its own registration number and its own independent receipt serial sequence, receipting under its own legal name — while your leadership still sees org-level rollups across every campus.
Your church's own Helcim account — a Canadian payment processor you connect during setup. Donations settle directly to your account in your currency at Helcim's interchange-plus rates; SundayHQ adds no markup and never holds donor money. (Our subscription itself is billed in USD.)
Always. People, giving history, and receipts export in full before, during, and after your subscription — and every issued receipt remains reproducible. Your records stay yours; how and where your charity keeps its books is between you and your accountant, never limited by us.
Take a test gift in the demo church, add a gala-style advantage, and watch the official receipt come out with the right eligible amount and a real serial number. No card, no call, two clicks.
